Supporting the signature of an Agreement on Cooperation in the field of culture between Rostov Velikiy (Yaroslavl Region), Russian Federation and Bernburg (Saale), Federal Republic of Germany

On 24th of October 2019, an Agreement on cooperation in the field of culture was signed between the cities of Rostov Velikiy (Yaroslavl Region), Russian Federation and Bernburg (Saale), Federal Republic of Germany. In a festive atmosphere, Paul Koller, Deputy Mayor for Culture of the city of Bernburg (Germany), Los Andrei Vasilievich, Mayor of the city of Rostov and Kichkova Svetlana Aleksandrovna, Chairwoman of the Rostov City Council, signed the document in the White House of the Rostov State Museum "Rostov Kremlin".

The Agreement states that "the parties intend, in the interests of their cities, long-term cooperation in the field of culture and seek to develop relations in the interests of peace and friendship between peoples, trust and mutual respect on the basis of equality, partnership and mutual interest."

With the support of the Russian-German Joint Venture Erdgasspeicher Peissen GmbH, which operates the underground gas storage facility UGS Katharina in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany), and its shareholders Gazprom export LLC (St. Petersburg) and the company "VNG Gasspeicher GmbH" (Leipzig), cultural ties have been established between the two cities since 2013. Russian-German children's painting competitions, exhibitions and festivals unite the children of both countries. The children learned the culture, folk art, traditions, sights and nature of Russia and Germany. The Cooperation Agreement will give official status to existing relations between the cities of Rostov and Bernburg (Saale).

In Rostov, the German delegation jointly with the colleagues of Rostov city administration visited the Rostov Kremlin State Museum, the Pearl of the Golden Ring of Russia. Moreover, they visited the oldest A. L. Kekin gymnasium, the Social and rehabilitation center for minor children "Rosinka", the children's art school, creative workshops in the Spaso-Yakovlevsky Dimitriev monastery named after Saint Dimitry of Rostov, as well as the children's Playground "Katharina" in the city Park, which was opened in May 2019. The playground "Katharina" is a gift of the Russian-German Joint Venture Erdgasspeicher Peissen GmbH to Rostov children.
